President's Message
President’s Message
I am pleased to be able to write this President’s letter, as I had the pleasure of attending the IREM Fall Business and Governance Meetings and Inaugural Gala in San Antonio, Texas. This was followed by two days of CCIM and IREM Success Series 2007 education consisting of 50 speakers and 30 sessions on many of today’s most popular topics, including negotiation, technology, financial analysis, personal development, tenant retention, site management, capital markets and foreign investment in the United States. We had two keynote speakers: Nido Qubein, who came to America as a teenager with $50 and is now the President of a University and is Chairman of the 218 store Great Harvest Bread Company; the other keynote speaker was Steve Forbes, President and CEO of Forbes, Inc., and editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine. Additionally, I was able visit the beautiful city of San Antonio, walk the Riverwalk and see the Alamo. What an opportunity this was for me!
I am hoping that every CPM in our Las Vegas chapter, who has not already been President, will consider getting more involved on a local and national basis. I have been given the opportunity for education, ethics, excellence, friendship, fellowship and travel. I have been a CPM since 1984 and the opportunities that have followed the designation are well worth the efforts you put into them. Next year, I will add Washington DC and Chicago to my travels with IREM. Locally, we have a very strong chapter, but it can grow stronger every year with the participation of our local CPMs, CPM candidates, associate members and industry partners. Please consider calling me today at 702-657-7116, or email me at howe@burnhamrealestate.com, and ask what you can do for our organization. In turn, I will find out what the organization and myself, personally, can do to help you enjoy our IREM chapter to it’s fullest.
On another note, please join me in congratulating Barbara Holland, CPM. It was announced at the IREM Governing Council meeting, by the Chair of the IREM Education Committee, that Barbara Holland has been admitted to the Faculty Emeritus for 28 years of service to IREM and their education program. Now that is dedication! Congratulations, Barbara!
Christine Howe
2008 President
